Privacy

This describes what this website collects and why. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

What we collect

Submissions. If you submit a receipt, we store the link you sent, the screenshot you uploaded, the context you wrote, and your email address if you chose to give one. Uploaded originals are stored privately and are not published. Your email address is used to confirm we received the submission and to ask a follow-up question — it is never published, and never shown alongside a receipt.

Correction requests and contact messages. We store what you send, including your email address, so an editor can respond and so we have a record of how a correction was handled.

Analytics. If analytics are enabled on this deployment, we use a privacy-conscious provider that does not use cookies to track individuals across sites and does not build advertising profiles. We record page views and a small number of product events — a receipt was viewed, a link was copied, a submission was started or completed. We do not record who you are.

Server logs. Our hosting provider records ordinary request logs, including IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention. We use IP addresses transiently to rate-limit form submissions.

What we do not collect

We do not have user accounts, so there is nothing to sign up for and no profile to build. We do not run advertising trackers. We do not sell data. We do not collect home addresses, phone numbers, or employer information about anyone — not about visitors, and not about the subjects of receipts.

Subjects of receipts

If you are the subject of a receipt and believe it contains a factual error, a misidentification, or personal information that should not be there, use the corrections form. We take privacy requests seriously and act on verified ones. We do not remove accurate receipts about public posts simply on request.

Retention

Submissions, correction requests and contact messages are retained while they are editorially relevant. Original evidence is retained privately for as long as the corresponding receipt exists, so that a published claim can always be re-checked.
